Getting to Yes on Healthcare

Dear fellow Wyomingites,

I announced that I was running for governor of this great state on August 12, 2025, and from that day on, I have made one thing clear – I want to make Wyoming’s healthcare system better.  

We know the path forward will be difficult, but Wyoming has never been a state that walks away from a challenge simply because it is hard. Wyoming has always been a state that works to get to yes. When our people want something, when our communities need it, and when the stakes are too high to simply accept the status quo, we innovate and often lead the nation. We must do that now.

I have listened and heard the challenges faced by Wyoming families, businesses, and communities when it comes to healthcare. The business leaders who want to provide health insurance for their employees but struggle to keep up with rising costs year after year. The difficulty of growing and sustaining frontier communities when people cannot access even basic levels of care. And the difficult financial choices healthcare costs sometimes require individuals and families to make. These challenges are real, and we will not pretend otherwise. They are a call to action. Wyoming can listen, work together, and find a way to make things better - to get to yes.

And so, I will prioritize healthcare from day one of my administration. This will not be easy, and it will not be quick. Wyoming’s healthcare system is unique and complicated by the frontier nature of our state and the vast distances between its communities. 

No matter the complexity, however, I know Wyoming can make improvements the Wyoming way. In my 14 years at the Wyoming Legislature, we have been listening to the problems, studying the system, and working on targeted solutions. I believe healthcare stakeholders are ready and willing to work together to take on this complex problem. I believe that together we can make a positive impact to Wyoming’s healthcare system.

Improving Wyoming’s healthcare system will be a priority for my administration, and I cannot waste any time getting started. Today I announced that I have launched a platform for my Healthcare Strike Team. Over the next few months, I will work with my Healthcare Strike Team and continue to meet with others to identify actionable steps that I can take on day one of my administration.
